Can you customize Claude for Financial Advisors?

Short answer: Yes. The plugin is plain Markdown and JSON under the Apache 2.0 license, so a firm can fork it, add its own compliance rules, disclosures, CRM note format and model names, and push that version to every advisor through its organization's plugin settings. Individual advisors can also set personal preferences in Claude's settings, but firm rules belong in the firm's copy.
Customization happens at three levels. Personal: an advisor pastes a short instruction into Settings, General, Instructions for Claude, and it applies to every conversation they have. Firm: a fork of the plugin in a private repository, synced to the organization's plugin marketplace and set as required, so every advisor runs the same rules and nobody can edit them locally. New skills: workflows Anthropic did not write, built in the same format.
Change the compliance skill first. Its rules live in a checklist that the skill itself calls a static snapshot, not a live firm-rules feed. Your review standards, required disclosures and banned phrases belong there. Then set your CRM note format in the meeting skill and your IPS and model names in the rebalance review.
Some things should never change. Every write to an external system pauses for advisor approval. No skill recommends or executes trades. The subagents that read documents and connectors stay read-only. Anthropic's own design rules for anyone who forks the plugin say exactly this.
Test every change on fictional households before it reaches a real one, and have the CCO review changes to the compliance skill like any other policy change.
