TLDR: The best Claude connectors for private credit firms start where the credit agreements live: Box, Egnyte or Anthropic's Microsoft 365 connector. Next come the data connectors in Anthropic's financial-analysis plugin, from Moody's and S&P Global to PitchBook and FactSet, each of which may need the provider's subscription or API key. A loan or portfolio system with an API can get a custom connector, read-only first. WorkWise Solutions sets up the document connectors in its Claude rollout, from $25,000, and builds custom ones as a Custom Build from $75,000.
I connect Claude to your data room and document stores, read-only first and with your MNPI rules in writing, inside the Claude rollout I run through WorkWise Solutions, from $25,000 for funds of 1 to 10 people. If your loan or portfolio system has an API, I build a custom read-only connector to it as a Custom Build from $75,000, fixed once scoped.

1. The Short Answer
The best Claude connectors for private credit firms reach the three places a credit team's work lives: the document store that holds the credit agreements, the credit and market data the fund licenses, and the loan or portfolio system.
Anthropic offers connectors for the first two. Its financial-analysis plugin holds connectors for Box and Egnyte plus ten data providers, and its own Microsoft 365 connector is available on every Claude plan.
For the third, check whether your system has an API. If it does, a custom connector can let Claude read it.
Connect them in that order: documents, then data, then the loan system.
2. What a Claude Connector Is
A connector lets Claude read from, and sometimes act in, another system. Claude's connectors are MCP servers, built on the Model Context Protocol.
On Team and Enterprise, an Owner enables each connector for the organization, and each person still signs in with their own account. Owners also set each connector's tools, read-only or write and delete, to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked, for the whole organization (Anthropic Help Center).
Two controls decide what Claude can touch: each person's own sign-in and the Owner's settings.
3. The Connectors That Matter for Credit
Four rows, in the order to connect them.
| Connector | What Claude can reach | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Box or Egnyte, in Anthropic's financial-analysis plugin | Files the fund keeps there, such as credit agreements, amendments, compliance certificates and borrower packages | Which folders the first workflow needs. Each person signs in with their own account. |
| Microsoft 365, Anthropic's own connector | Documents and email the fund keeps in Microsoft 365 | One-time consent from an Entra Global Admin. It stays read-only unless an admin turns on write tools. |
| Ten data providers: Moody's, S&P Global, PitchBook, FactSet, LSEG, Daloopa, Chronograph, Morningstar, Aiera and MT Newswires | Each provider's data, within what the fund licenses | Which ones the fund already pays for. Access may need a subscription or API key from the provider. |
| The fund's loan administration or portfolio system | What the system's API returns, through a custom connector | Whether the system has an API and the fund's license covers using it. Build read-only first. |
Connect the providers the fund already licenses, and leave the rest until a workflow asks for them.
Every connector is one more thing to govern, so each one should earn its place.
4. Your Loan Data: Custom Connectors
Much of a credit team's own data sits in its loan administration or portfolio system: positions, payments and each loan's history.
If that system has an API, a custom connector can let Claude read it. The connector is an MCP server written for that one system. It calls the API and hands Claude what comes back, under the same Owner settings as any other connector.
Build it read-only first. With only read tools, Claude can look up a balance or a payment history and has no tool that changes a loan record. Add write access later, one tool at a time, on Needs approval.
Before anyone writes code, ask the vendor two questions: does the system have an API, and does the fund's license cover using it?
A read-only connector answers questions. Write access needs a reason, an owner and a test.
5. Settings That Matter
Check these before any borrower file is connected.
- Owners. Keep the list short, since Owners enable connectors and set their tools.
- Tool permissions. Read tools on Always allow or Needs approval; write and delete tools on Needs approval or Blocked.
- Cowork approvals. Automatically approve mode is on by default, so turn it off for borrower work. Always allow for connector tools is off by default, so leave it off (Cowork on Team and Enterprise).
- Local files. Anthropic's Cowork safety page says: "Avoid granting access to local files with sensitive information, like financial documents." Keep borrower files in the document store, behind the connector's settings.
- Chat ratings. A thumbs up or down stores the whole conversation for up to 5 years, so switch ratings off in Organization settings, Data and Privacy (Privacy Center).
Write each setting down with the date you set it. That page is the start of your answer when an LP's due diligence questionnaire asks who can reach the borrower files.
6. Where to Start
Connect one document store for one team, read-only, and widen from there.
- List where credit agreements and borrower packages live today.
- Enable that one connector, with write and delete tools Blocked.
- List the data the fund already pays for, and check each provider's terms for MCP access.
- Ask the loan system's vendor whether it has an API.
- Review the tool permissions after 30 days.
Skills that use these connectors are in the best Claude skills for private credit firms, and the private equity connectors guide covers MCP in more depth.
WorkWise Solutions, which publishes this guide, sets up connectors to the fund's data room and document stores inside the Claude Rollout for Private Equity and Credit Funds, with the settings in section 5 and the fund's MNPI rules in writing. It costs from $25,000 for funds of 1 to 10 people to $40,000 for 61 to 150, over three to six weeks.
A custom read-only connector to a loan or portfolio system with an API is a separate Custom Build from $75,000, fixed once scoped, with an MVP in 6 to 8 weeks. WorkWise sells no licenses and takes no referral fees, so data subscriptions stay between the fund and each provider. Not a fit if your IT team already runs MCP connectors and only needs the settings list above.
"All connectors are centralized in the financial-analysis core plugin and shared across the rest."

- •The best Claude connectors for a private credit fund start with the document store that holds its credit agreements and borrower packages: Box, Egnyte or Anthropic's Microsoft 365 connector.
- •Anthropic's financial-analysis plugin holds twelve connectors, including Moody's, S&P Global, PitchBook, FactSet and LSEG, and its README warns that MCP access may require a subscription or API key from the provider.
- •If a fund's loan administration or portfolio system has an API, a custom connector can let Claude read it, and it should be built read-only first.
- •On Team and Enterprise, an Owner enables each connector for the organization, each person signs in individually, and each tool can be set to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked.
- •Before connecting borrower files, turn off Cowork's Automatically approve mode, which is on by default, and switch off chat ratings, which store a whole conversation for up to 5 years.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Claude connect to our loan administration system?
If the system has an API, a custom connector can let Claude read it. A custom connector is an MCP server written for that one system: it calls the API and returns the results to Claude, under the tool permissions the fund's Owner sets. Build it read-only first, so Claude can look up a balance or a payment history but has no tool that changes a loan record. Before any build, ask the vendor whether the system has an API and whether the fund's license covers using it.
Do Claude connectors cost extra?
It depends on the provider. Anthropic's financial-services README says: "MCP access may require a subscription or API key from the provider." So before connecting Moody's, PitchBook or FactSet, check whether the fund already licenses that provider's data and whether its agreement covers access through Claude. Connectors to document stores such as Box or Egnyte reach files the fund already keeps there. A custom connector to the fund's own loan system is a separate build with its own price.
Who can set up Claude connectors for a credit fund?
A fund with an IT lead who already runs its admin consoles can enable Anthropic's connectors itself: an Owner switches each one on, sets its tool permissions and has each person sign in. A fund that wants it done to a written standard can hire WorkWise Solutions, which publishes this guide. Its Claude rollout sets up connectors to the data room and document stores with the fund's MNPI rules, from $25,000 for funds of 1 to 10 people. Custom read-only connectors to systems with an API are a Custom Build from $75,000.
