Every Portfolio Company AI-Capable, One Price Per Company
The Portfolio AI Program takes one operating company from unassessed to trained and governed in a single per-company engagement. Each company gets the AI Value-Creation Diagnostic, the Secure AI Adoption policy, and one function training cohort. Bought separately, those three cost $29,000. Inside the program: $25,000 per company, stepping down at five and ten companies.
Most GPs approach portfolio AI one company at a time: a pilot here, a vendor deck there, ten companies at ten different maturity levels, and no line item the IC can approve in one pass. Operating partners do not budget in projects. They budget per company.
So the program is priced the way you already think: one number per company, a volume step at five, another at ten, and the same three deliverables every time. One standard across the book instead of ten experiments.
Vendor-neutral across Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, and Gemini. Each company runs on its own stack.

Three Deliverables, Every Company, Same Order
Find the value, set the rules, train the people. The sequence matters: the diagnostic tells the cohort what to train on, and the policy lands before the tools spread.
AI Value-Creation Diagnostic
Where AI moves EBITDA at this specific company, ranked by effort and payback, and what to train for first. The document the operating partner takes to the board.
Secure AI Adoption Policy
Acceptable-use rules, shadow-AI discovery, and data-handling guidance, with sector rules where they apply. Staff get a safe path before something sensitive goes into the wrong tool.
One Function Training Cohort
Up to 12 people from the function the diagnostic says pays first (finance, sales, RevOps, or operations), grouped by skill level, trained on the company's own work. Additional cohorts: $6,500 each.
Priced Per Company, Stepped by Count
One number per company. The tier applies to the whole program count, so extending later re-tiers everything, not just the new companies.
Start with the companies where the thesis says AI matters most. $4,000 under the separate prices from company one.
The typical mid-market portfolio. An eight-company program runs $180,000, against $232,000 buying the pieces separately.
Platform and roll-up portfolios. Every company to one standard, one scorecard across the book.
Commercials: 50% deposit on the wave in progress, balance as each company's readout is delivered. Companies run in waves of two or three; a five-company program typically completes its first pass inside a quarter.
Waves, Not a Queue
Pick the first wave
Two or three companies where the value-creation thesis leans on efficiency, reporting, or sales productivity. A 30-minute call with the operating partner sets the order.
Diagnostic, policy, cohort, per company
The diagnostic finds where AI moves the number. The policy lands before the tools spread. The cohort trains the function that pays first, on that company's own work. Three to four weeks per company.
One scorecard across the book
Every company ends with the same readout format: the opportunities, the risks, what got trained, and what to do next. The operating partner gets one comparable scorecard instead of ten inconsistent vendor decks.
Then sustain it, or build on it
Upkeep (policy currency, adoption reviews, added cohorts) runs through the AI Operating Partner retainer, sponsorable across the portfolio. Companies where the diagnostic found a build-sized opportunity move to the Build door.
Run the Program If...
You own five or more operating companies and each one is improvising its own AI approach.
The IC wants one approvable number for portfolio AI, not ten separate proposals.
Staff at the portcos are already pasting company data into free tools and nobody has written the rules.
Your value-creation plans name "AI efficiency" and nobody has priced what that means per company.
You want exit-ready evidence: a governed, trained company reads better in a sale process than a pile of shadow tools.
You run a roll-up and want every acquired company brought to the same standard as part of integration.
Portfolio AI Program FAQ
What does it cost?
$25,000 per company for up to four companies, $22,500 per company at five or more, and $20,000 per company at ten or more. Each company gets the $15,000 Value-Creation Diagnostic, the $7,500 Secure AI Adoption policy, and a $6,500 function training cohort: $29,000 of work bought separately, so the program price is a discount before the volume steps even start.
What does each company get?
Three things. The AI Value-Creation Diagnostic: where AI moves EBITDA at that specific company and what to train for first. The Secure AI Adoption policy: acceptable-use rules, shadow-AI discovery, and data-handling guidance. And one function training cohort (up to 12 people, grouped by skill level) on the function the diagnostic says pays first.
How fast does it run?
About three to four weeks per company, run in waves of two or three companies. A five-company program typically completes its first pass inside a quarter, and every company ends with the same readout format, so the operating partner gets one comparable scorecard across the portfolio.
What happens after the program?
Two paths, often both. Ongoing upkeep runs through the AI Operating Partner retainer, which a GP can sponsor across the portfolio. Companies where the diagnostic found a build-sized opportunity move to the Build door: a rollout or a custom build scoped to that company.
Can we start with one company?
Yes. Run the program at one company for $25,000, or buy the pieces separately at $29,000. If the first company works and you extend, the volume tier applies to the whole program count, not just the new companies.
