Can you use Claude for investing?

Yes, for the research and analysis around an investment decision. No, it is not a crystal ball, a data feed, or a source of trades to place.

It is useful for digesting a company history and filings, pressure-testing your own thesis by asking it to argue the other side, summarizing an industry, comparing two opportunities on the criteria you set, and drafting the write-up.

It is not useful, and is risky if you forget it, for live prices, real-time news, and anything where being current to the minute matters. A model answers from what it was given, and it can state a wrong number with full confidence. Verify anything that moves money.

For an investment firm the safe and valuable use is Claude as an analyst tool: it reads and drafts, you decide. The further you drift from that, toward asking it what to buy, the more trouble it invites.
